On the article portion, was definitely a good mentality to break out of the mold of the bitcoin NPC cult mindset of NGU. As is implied bitcoin can be used as a tool to help one improve oneself but it does not automatically do so. There are layers to this problem and an especially important one is social capital as mentioned in a “Rock Paper Bitcoin” episode and too hyper focused on bitcoin NGU is obviously detrimental to this as well.

Max I feel you on the whole podcast burn out thing. I’ve felt the same way. I used to consistently week after week listen to 40-80 hours a week of mostly Bitcoin or Libertarian podcasts! Satoshi is Gen X and they are the silent generation that will redistribute the wealth. The Millennials came of age during the Great Recession. They never got a break and had the fewest children. I heard a reflection of myself in the discussion about "lone wolf mentality" and it has led me to Bitcoin, NOSTR, and the Ungovernable Misfits. I've noticed a lot of the victim mentality echoing in the Bitcoin sphere, particularly in podcasts and social media, mentioning blame on centralized banks, inflation, Cantillonaires, and so on. But I think the real issue lies with people's time preferences and their craving for convenience, which the system facilitates more easily. This UGMF podcast was incredibly high in signal, and the segment about the person leading by example and working hard to be better than others, daring to show up 100% was truly inspiring. It's something to mirror oneself after, as it shows the transformation from a lone wolf to becoming part of a team.

Pleb slop reflection: Bitcoin has already won. It’s the optimal base-layer money. We just need to build the layers on top to bring those properties to the world. No force required — just make it available as an opt-in parallel system. The painful path to low time preference is TBD. Fiat is opt-in too, but the entities in charge hide that fact. It’s not NGU that matters, shows like this are the true signal, the tip of the spear of the true value proposition of the new money. It’s a good reminder that we’re all still so early in the discovery of what potential use cases may be developed for BTC. BTC with its set of tradeoffs is may appear to be an imperfect money when compared to our convenient fiat systems, but it still represents the conception of an idea that had its birth fundamentally from a point of there being a big problem with the alternative.
