I certainly feel like a LARP most of the time. But generally speaking aren’t we all LARPing as a living creature in preparation for eternity? Either spend your time here trying to be a “good” person or maybe one day you answer for your sins before the Lord himself. I do really appreciate the comment about raising girls who won't need me one day. It's my biggest goal but my greatest fear. The thought of failure or success are both terrifying. Trying to enjoy time with my children while they are kids while also ALWAYS considering their future as an adult is a juxtaposition that I don’t think most humans fully understand. Cultivate that passion within them, protect that innocence, but also ensure they fully understand the world is ready to terminate all their hopes and dreams at any moment...

On the article portion, was definitely a good mentality to break out of the mold of the bitcoin NPC cult mindset of NGU. As is implied bitcoin can be used as a tool to help one improve oneself but it does not automatically do so. There are layers to this problem and an especially important one is social capital as mentioned in a “Rock Paper Bitcoin” episode and too hyper focused on bitcoin NGU is obviously detrimental to this as well.

She's a social worker at the local government school but about to go into private practice. Before that she worked for the state and has placed many kids in foster care. So many times her opinion is ignored and the state gets what they want. The foster parents are pretty good in our area though. But there are MANY who sign up across the county only with the goal to abuse kids. It's incredibly hard to figure out which ones are the bad ones unless the kids come forward to a therapist or social worker. But my wife's time is spent dealing with bureaucratic BS rather than being able to actually help the kids.

Hopeful on local models. One must learn to cook using the toolbox of local models vs use the fast food version (Anthropic). Currently a hybrid approach seems to work pretty well. Doing some prompt engineering through a model like Grok on what you want to do and how to tell an agent running on local models to do that job. I built a functional Nostr client as a chrome extension using Qwen 3.6 27B after prompt engineering with a cloud model.

Ironically, I'll be working on the Bitcoin mining air-conditioning unit again over the winter. Winter is when the building and tinkering happens here at the homestead. As a larp with chauffeur knowledge.. trying to become less and less so I must say this podcast episode definetly puts some noise in the signal of quantum computing this and quantum computing that in cryptography privacy and bitcoin discusssions. I think what you guys provide is a good starting point with someone who did some calc and stats and algebra in college but doesn’t want to bite the bullet for going back for a whole degree in it.
