721 Trying to keep pleb slop away from meetups is the wrong approach. Meetups are where plebs become pioneers. They come to the meetup because the are ready to put in the work. The meetup organizers are there to guide and teach pleb slop literacy. How to recognize and think critically about the pleb slop. To build a local culture that is aware of pleb slop but can consume it for what it is rather than be psyoped, gaslit, and generally mislead or distracted by it.

I'm going to miss out on all these connections but have to keep telling myself my family comes first and bringing my whole clan was just not possible this time. Y'all have a wonderful time! Y'all's discussions about these opportunities to contribute are so hard at such a distance! I'll really miss the chance to maybe be part of a podcast episode! Y'all give each other plenty of hugs since I won't be there to do so myself! I feel the same way Phundamentals does about events being over. It's a psychological condition and sometimes I feel like I build up so excitement for events that I don't even actually enjoy the event itself! Y'all lock in and focus on the moment. How can we film an MTV Cribs type show with Bitcoiner houses without doxxing locations or faces?!?! Can Home Assistant help with that?! I also used to have all these automated lights and quickly realized I didn’t want to deal with it or have it phoning home. For lights automation I’d much easier to install an analog option (motion sensor switch) on the wall to replace the manual switch. Like a bathroom occupancy switch which will turn on the lights for 30 minutes when you walk in... So unless you take a really long shit then the light and fan will turn off after you finish your business and leave. If you get stuck watching videos or doomscrolling then just a simple wave of the hand will turn it back on! I had this happen to me once in college where I was in a stall and the light turned off in the bathroom while I was in there and the sensor couldn’t see me... didn’t turn back on until the next person walked in and was surprised I was shitting in the dark. Or in my shed when I can’t get my fucking miners to work and I’m staring at the computer then the lights turn off so I typically use that as an indicator that I need another beer and walk over to trigger the lights again. (Sorry for the long boost on your hour-long show... I sent extra sats...)

Leveling up the automation of the systems at the homestead is on the long list of winter projects. It does seem like a tipping point has been reached where remote control and automation is now simple and affordable enough while still being possible to do while maintaining privacy that it's well worth making the effort to integrate.

Raspberry Pis are little pieces of shit, but they are fantastic for some use cases. I have some that have been running for many years consistently with no problems. It really depends on what you're trying to do with it. For always on, lightweight servers, they are fantastic. I think I currently have six that are on in another six that are currently powered off

I really like the format of this show and how it is listener-driven. Tons of great information in these shows. Zigbee is something I need to look into more. Home Assistant has been on my automation to do list for a while. One of these years I'll get around to playing with it LOL
