Imho we have let the crypto skeptics get inside our heads. I think as a community we should lean into the fact that boost are powered by bitcoin. As a small business, I’m grateful to have support in a hard asset. It’s helped me fight inflation and keep my head above water. Bitcoin is an intelligence test, and I don’t need everyone in the world listening. I want a great audience, not the biggest audience possible. These are things we should lean into as a podcasting community trying to offer an alternative to mainstream crap. Go Podcasting!

Just wanted to say I really appreciate the work you guys do behind the scenes for the us Podcasters out here! Also +1 to the idea of putting an on-chain Address in the funding tag. I’ve definitely heard from a few listeners that would support via onchain, because that’s where they already have their stats.

Fell behind on the shows, I am slowly catching up. Your pre-show rant on open-source projects vs AI really resonated with me so I had to give some value back. I was mostly on board with OSS maintainers and their approach to block big tech AI bots seemed reasonable to me. But your words and passion made me see that it should only be at most a short term solution (because letting OpenAI and others hammer your forge does not seem viable). However on the long term you are absolutely correct, our focus should be on finding solutions to enable users to have their agents scrape efficiently. Leveraging this new tool will prove invaluable, but only if we let it. It would be a shame to let such an opportunity go to waste! Keep fighting the good fight and thank you for the value 💯

Boost for the road! I’d like to hear your opinion on Open Source LLMs. If an LLM is Open Source, how much can we know about the security and telemetry of that model? If the source code is visible and we can audit it, can we be reassured of what’s being logged or used for training, or is it still a black box? I’m having a debate with a friend at the moment, he says that LLMs are black boxes, even if they are Open Source. What say you?

Had a great time with the TUI challenge, easy for me on the neovim and tmux side because I daily drive it. But for the rest it was great discovering all these new apps!! The big surprise for me was how manageable it was to live without a full fledged browser. Being used to vim motions w3m was a great experience to reduce the learning curve for text content. browsh is rough around the edges but got me the rest of the way there and able to login into github and most of my tests were ok. I ran out of time to get mail and music going but looking forward to getting it done soon. You guys got me excited about going full tui 😁 Can't wait to hear how you guys did!

Boosting with my progress for the TUI challenge (no time for more): (Brent style trying to add until the last minute :D) - Text = 10 + 15 = Neovim / Vim (on my work windows machine) - Email = -20 - Web = 20 + 5 = w3m for text based content (articles, docs) & browsh where JS is needed - Music = -10 - File = 10 + 5 = yazi - Task = 20 = todoman - System monitoring = 10 = btop, k9s (kubernetes used in day-job) - Terminal multitasking = 30 = tmux Total of 95 with the 2 penalties applied Creative bonus points : - Same theme with almost all used TUI apps (catppuccin mocha) - tmux script to manage sessions and hotswap between project directories

I'm just about ready to finally dive into Nix. My question for you Nix nerds is should I start with a general use PC and hypr-vibe, an appliance level media server, or the coveted Nix Bitcoin node?

Could you give us some beginners tips for trying OpenClaw. In a FOSS way, what’s a safe way to play with this without losing the farm. I was thinking of spinning it up on an old Raspberry Pi 4 I’m not using. How do you think that would work? I’d like to play around with this but aren’t quite ready to unleash it on my main computers. Just upgraded my nix machines to 25.05. I run unstable on my main laptop (m2 air running nixos-apple-silicon), the stable release on most of my homelab and maintain the options for the 2 inputs in my flake : https://github.com/KongrooParadox/nixfiles This was my second nixos release since getting into Nix last year (February I think), and this strategy made it really painless. No surprises about deprecated options since I saw these cases slowly when these changes hit unstable. What is your approach to NixOS releases?

I’m not a total Linux newbie, have been running a couple of Ubuntu servers and Linux Mint on a laptop for over a year now, but want to set up a Linux desktop as a daily driver now.
