Imho we have let the crypto skeptics get inside our heads. I think as a community we should lean into the fact that boost are powered by bitcoin. As a small business, I’m grateful to have support in a hard asset. It’s helped me fight inflation and keep my head above water. Bitcoin is an intelligence test, and I don’t need everyone in the world listening. I want a great audience, not the biggest audience possible. These are things we should lean into as a podcasting community trying to offer an alternative to mainstream crap. Go Podcasting!

Just wanted to say I really appreciate the work you guys do behind the scenes for the us Podcasters out here! Also +1 to the idea of putting an on-chain Address in the funding tag. I’ve definitely heard from a few listeners that would support via onchain, because that’s where they already have their stats.

Excited for the conversation that took place on sessions recently; Simon Dixon vs. Jeff Booth. Excellent signal, I am always confused why Simon does not get more exposure. I would like to see him on Citadel & TFTC. It was a welcome white pill, a masterclass from Jeff. We are winning. Marty, can u get Doomberg on TFTC?

Time traveller boost for Texas. I’m randomnly working through the back catalogue to learn things as they come up in my setup. Just learnt the difference between Snap and Flatpaks in eps 532, 501 and 499. It’s evergreen content, thanks for the work you put into creating these and the passion in the delivery.

have a great time at Linux Fest. Do you have any suggestions or old episodes to help new Linux users decide on distros as a daily driver? I’m not a total Linux newbie, have been running a couple of Ubuntu servers and Linux Mint on a laptop for over a year now, but want to set up a Linux desktop as a daily driver now. I’m looking at Pop OS for now, any suggestions appreciated. Thanks from New Zealand!

Happy to help test / transition things at Jupiter Broadcasting as app’s transition off the Alby API. After listening today, my biggest concern would be losing the info in the TLV record. And how to handle the transition in our value tags.

Belated boost for this, and other episodes. So much of what Dash talked about resonated with me. Running multiple nodes, disappointment in Bitcoiners and looking for answers somewhere else. Thanks for the thought provoking conversations Cody.

Boost for the road! I’d like to hear your opinion on Open Source LLMs. If an LLM is Open Source, how much can we know about the security and telemetry of that model? If the source code is visible and we can audit it, can we be reassured of what’s being logged or used for training, or is it still a black box? I’m having a debate with a friend at the moment, he says that LLMs are black boxes, even if they are Open Source. What say you?

Time traveller boost, I’m going back over episodes about File systems. Who knew that you could customize the file system in your OS. Wow! Could you explain the difference between corporate disros (like Ubuntu & PopOS) and community distros. Pros and cons, trade offs, that kind of thing. Thanks.

The final bear market cleanse is finally upon us. We’re shaking loose all the dead weight, the crash-outs, and the node-running drama so Bitcoin can finally resume its rightful trajectory: up only.

Buglers, remember to hit that "Share on Nostr" button when you send a Fountain boost. It's the best way to spread the signal and mog the plebs. Because let's be real: if you boost a podcast and don't flex it on the timeline, did it even happen?

How do you handle updates on your nodes? I often have updates to run on Ubuntu and many of the other services on my Bitcoin & LND nodes. I know you are running agents for a lot of things, do you give agents access to your nodes for updates? Sounds a bit risky, especially on an LND node, so I wanted to hear how you approach managing your updates. Thanks.

BTC bummer boost! This is my third bear market and maybe the worst one yet- sentiment is extremely low with no clear reason for hope in sight. We need some good news fast!

You know what the most valuable asset you have or ever will have is? Your time. It is the hardest money that ever was or will be. You are guaranteed to have a finite amount. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. And you have no way to know your balance. Attention is how we spend it. I find you, Chris, and TWiB and The Bitcoin Dad and so many Jupiter shows over the years have brought me so much value for my time. I have drastically reduced consumption across the board. TWiB is one of the very few shows I spend any of my precious time on, and will likely be one of the very last to go. Thanks for being you, and for all you do Chris.

I was an enthusiastic supporter of Start9 and have been running Lukes client since the problem with Core started. But with 110 it was just too much to support it. I moved nack to Core and uninstalled whole Start5 vm. Trully disappointing what they're doing. :( And yes, I've been starcking for a few years now and this is the first time i have serious doubts about Bitcoin Also I am convinced we're actually not appreciating how many people feel this way. I think it just might be a substantial reason for people not buying like crazy now

Hi Chris, Thanks for the show and your unerring reliability. A 5 year bear market for me would mean a change in time preference. My basic strategy doesn’t change, only how long it takes to enact and which generation benefits more. It is a fascinating question in general though, i.e. how long to HODL and when to spend. Just how long do you want to defer your gratification for? At the end of the day it seems to be a balance between your own personal financial situation ( and survival now) vs btc price vs when you bought in and how much. Great to see a small, but growing, group meet-up in my neighbourhood calling themselves the ‘Freedom Cafe’, promoting Open Source Software and privacy tech, (mostly Linux) … I see an ‘in’ for Orange Pilling! : )

More likely to disbelieve btc long term value if bip 110 fails
  • 8,000 via Fountain
I couldn’t agree more with your take on BIP110. The number one thing that would make me question my Bitcoin thesis is if a minority group could force its will on the majority. Core messed up big time, but I’ll take jpegs onchain over setting the precedent that a small, angry minority can push through massive consensus changes.
