As a licensed life insurance agent and Infinite Banking Practitioner since 2015 this idea sounds Amazing, but... What are the downsides? This company is based in Bermuda, what protections against getting rugged do you have? Life insurance in the US is governed by each state regulations. All life insurance companies pay into Guaranty Associations that give protections. Secondly, the life insurance companies that I work with have a 150 year track record and many over 100 years of paying dividends to policy holders. Lastly, when paying life insurance premium using bitcoin, that will be considered a cap gain event since you are selling your bitcoin to the company. Yes the payout is tax free, but I believe in the US, and bitcoin transfers that are not to your own wallet are taxable. There is a lot more to this, than what was presented. As much as I'd like to use some bitcoin to put into this. I'm not there yet. Your mileage may very. I'd rather hold my own keys, buy traditional life insurance using fiat that I can then leverage using the policy loan provisions into other assets or investments. My mentor in the Infinite Banking Concept has done some talks about how whole life insurance can keep up with inflation. This reminds me of the first book I read on blockchains « The Truth Machine ». Always building your reputation, still as anonymous as you choose, and your reputation still has value. Way down the line, but could you imagine a « sorry » button? And a « forgiven » button? Seems people either say nothing for fear of becoming a meme, or hide behind burner accounts, and have no guard rails. Wouldn’t it be nice to feel you could fuck up and make amends?

This was one of my two favourites podcasts recently. For the same reason. Both guests, Simon Dixon here and Lyn Alden on Peter McCormack’s show, were outside of their usual comfort zone, and did great jobs framing things for the audience. It got me thinking how we need to meet people where they are. Cheers

There is a big difference if you signal shitcoins are welcome or you focus on money and discourage non-monetary use cases. There are plenty of shitcoins they can play on. Nodes and users are important otherwise it deceases to be Bitcoin and becomes captured and centralized.

Super Argument Dennis. Tom blendet Kernproblematik aufgrund von Indizien-DoS ab und kommt zu falschen Rückschlüssen. Ganz ohne technisches Verständnis kann man halt leider keine Rückschlüsse auf Validität der Indizien und Schutz vor Zentralisierung ziehen, sorry Tom.

Genau andersrum, Ver und Co waren die großen Player (Exchanges, Miner, ..) die ihre Geschäftsmodelle schützen wollten und via Blockgröße einfachste Lösung durchdrücken wollten (Zentralisierung). Mining Pools würden mit Bigblocks noch mehr zentralisiert sein weil schwerer Nodes zu betreiben. Pools ist ein Problem, Lösung Stratum v2, Ocean/Datum um Blocktemplates zu dezentralisieren. Ver/Bigblocks hätte nichts daran geändert bzw. verschlimmert. Blocksizewar als neutralere Quelle lesen.

How does a Fedimint, or multiple Fedimints, help to solve/complicate this scenario?

The stay home with no purpose narrative isn’t what UBI is about. No one is sitting at home rotting on a 2K a month UBI. I think of UBI as a financial floor no one can fall below, not a safety net, or an income replacement. It’s a lot of things, but if your sitting around rotting on an allowance of that level the problem is not the UBI. It would be a entrepreneurial boost for me. What would 2K a month do for you?

When you were talking about having a few people who you trusted working together, is that not what Fedimint is trying to create?

Another thing that thar the interviewer doesn't get is how easy it is to verify identy is using the network affect, plus verifying the public key (npub) for instance if you have a friend you know and trust and they are following someone you can see that person is real. If you have hundreds or thousands following then you can assume that is verified. Most fake ones will have very few followers. Hope this helps.
