Also, wanted to throw out there I've loved the members bootleg feed update having the video enclosure! Life has been crazy busy so being able to see the amazing studio, your facial reactions, & friendly faces has been awesome when I get some downtime 😁 FYI, since you'd chatted with Fountian a lot in the past, when rotating to landscape mode using the video version in full screen the Fountain logo cuts off part of Chris' head when you go to the 3 person shot (since Chris is on top). Not a big deal but just figured I'd mention it & hopefully Fountain will just drop their logo to give you screen real-estate back. (Using a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in case screen dimensions matter)

While I can appreciate other listeners sentiments (and initially for a little I agreed) that there was too much AI convo. But I reflected on it a while back & I have really appreciated the pragmatic and fun approachs JB has taken with AI. For a while you'd used it in the background & not brought it up much because (I'm assuming) it wasn't as applicable for the wider audience (i.e. song generation), but as you've found things had greater impact you've brought more intentional topics to us. All while breaking down the "magic" for exactly how you're running things & a reality check on where things are. I also, through the bootleg member feeds & other community focused shows, recognize how much work goes into making high quality shows like Linux Unplugged & all the other JB shows (co-hosts, content research & distillation, plus making profitable so JB can exist as a company & Chris can actually afford healthcare, etc.). So while Chris didn't really comment on the mention of "make a new show" (I'm sure he's heard it before & he's too polite), that is a non-trivial effort that is very difficult when JB's main show only has 1 sponsor. Not trying to be mean, just trying to make sure other listeners know as well. All that to say, I personally want to thank you for your intentionally & would love to keep hearing more as you keep seeing these shift changes in AI. Plus all the fun practical projects you work on (opencode + physically debugging heater was wild!). Keep up the awesome work 🎉, & if it gets to be too much hype (IMO) I'll pipe up 😁 (FYI, I think this is my first boost on Fountain with my nostr key setup, so IDK what my name will come through but feel free to just say elrey or elrey741 or however you feel like pronouncing it Chris 😉)

Oh, and I planned on the self-hosted route instead of a SaaS solution because the conference doesn't have much money (and my personal budget is tight), so I'd imagine paying for the VPS just for the 3 days of the conference shouldn't be too expensive and is just a one time cost. The solution doesn't need to be perfect (i.e. streaming to thousands of people across the globe w/o any latency/issues) but I just don't want it to be terrible 😅 (worst case someone should be able to just view the stream of it via YT) I also recognize that this is probably a different style of professionally audio but with your collective experience of running peertube, (amazingly) live stream of Brent walking around conferences, etc. thought that you all might have a few pointers 🙃 (completely understand if the answer is IDK though)

Amazing content as always 😁 I also wanted to ask your opinion (since you all do audio professionally and regularly self-host things) on what kind of setup you would recommend for live streaming an online conference? I'll be helping out with CarolinaCon ( https://carolinacon.org/ ) this year ( running the infra: https://github.com/carolinacon/infra ), and I'd planned on doing Jitsi (since I've already got IaC for it: https://gitlab.com/elreydetoda-infra/iac/misc/-/tree/master… ) but didn't know if you'd recommend something else. High level my though process was: 1. Live stream to YT during conf 2. Manage jitsi "speaking" room participants to all be force muted except speaker during presentation 3. (Optional) Allowing a live Q&A from participants after presentation where they can unmute and ask questions 4. Have other Jitsi rooms for hallway track ( maybe try to revive this project w/AI: https://github.com/capnmidnight/Calla ), speaker onboarding prep, etc. If you think that's too much I could always do a view-only stream of the speaker's presentation, but thought it would be cool to have live audience interaction.
