Despite being brand spanking new, Omarchy hits me right in the nostalgies. I started daily-ing Linux in grad school, when I was trying to understand LaTex and Luke Smith's videos were the best on the subject. One thing led to another, and I found myself installing Arch manually then running Luke's Auto-Rice Bootstrapping Script (LARBS - what a name), then forking the script and modding it over time until Nix finally bit me a few years back and I got to drop basic shell scripts for fancy flakes. LARBS was almost the exact same thing as Omarchy, with x11/DWM instead of Wayland/Hyprland and bundled with academic tools rather than corporate ones, but the impetus and draw was what you've mentioned - it was recherche enough to be interesting and a challenge, and actually did lower the activation energy for most daily tasks. I'm still addicted to TUIs, tilers, and Vim keybinds everywhere because of it. Excited to see the community get a hit of the good stuff, maybe they'll be irreparably changed as well.
