102 - Lightning Thrashes

When it comes to running relays, you guys can probably run your own filtered relay. Because if you take a look at a relay called filter.noster.wine, it has a way of aggregating multiple relays and giving you a feed. This is designed to reduce spam on the nostr network and also battery life because it's there's less rela's ones phone has to communicate to. So, if each podcast app has its own relay to handle its own community, then PodcastIndex can just take in those feeds that are submitted and then aggregate them together into a single global feed. Then that way that gives you a central information point, but if you guys go down, each podcaster has their own relay and then can handle their own loads. Just my two cents, still love you guys and I'll bet you do. Go podcasting.

That Mostr bridge can't be trusted. Yes it works but also doesn't and is confusing and often delayed by several hours and the threads have massive holes in them. It was down for several days the other week for example. It's nice to keep tabs on some stuff but can't be trusted. I recommend keeping any real conversations on their respected protocols like IRC++. 😁

Another problem is that Bitcoiners have never truely cared about #PC20 and that's why we only have Fountain and Alby helping out because they get it and I got mad respect for both of them.

One thing I like about AlbyHub is that yes apps could run it for their users like Truefans does but I'd rather them make me a cool app so I'm willing to run my own as a trade off. They get to add the cool lightning stuff and not worry about my money. Every app being a host and a wallet is cool but now everything is really getting siloed. Alby is also battle tested and someone could run a MegaHub as a service but that ain't me.

Yes we chose keysend when we added lightning years ago but blaming those of us using and promoting the only options that let us build openly and that support it ie nodes and Alby(Hub) is bullshit. I was nervous when Alby move to AlbyHub because I knew it was the only option we had for the little guys but I went all in on it and helped other with it like I always do with everything and it paid off 10x and AlbyHub on a node is the best combine we've ever had and it you go all in and do it right there really aren't any downsides. If AlbyHub sucked I was just going to use BoostCLI since that's the fallback.

With selfhosting your own music on a website and running a node for the payments it's hard for use to give up that control to another 3rd party. I'm still happy to test stuff but what @npub14c7ksq2wl… are doing is the end goal imo and I just don't want us to get back into being trapped by Big Music again.

The sats are cool but the message is where the real Value is.

I get things are hard atm, but I wouldn't give up on the Bitcoin side. Keep it there, but also promote more of your paypal donations and amazon wishlist. Your music podcast really introduces me to all sorts of rock music and it is awesome. Even with your upcoming homestead podcast, you should enable it cause for me I mainly sat stream and it would suck to lose the ability to do that on your podcasts. I'm not mad @npub1lqvv69u54… and @npub1luwkteu2e…. You guys at least know there are other PC 2.0 apps out there. Maybe you can remember this site. nudepodcastapps.com yes nude My daily driver is Podverse but Curiocaster, PodcastGuru and Castamatic are also great. These apps do require an Alby account to send sats but if you have AlbyHub setup give them a shot. I'm sending this from Fountain (also great) but PC 2.0 is about listeners being able to choice whatever app they want.

Oh I didn't realize it was going to be the weekend of Oct. 13th so yeah it not going to work out. Oh well... 😅 Still excited to hear Jeff on the show either way!

Great #AlbyHub coverage at the beginning of the episode. I’ve been using @npub1getal6ykt… with PC 2.0 apps for years and this change to Alby is what I’ve always wanted. As a listener I can now Boost in PC 2.0 apps with my own node. This has NEVER been possible until now with AlbyHub. AlbyHub requires some work to setup but it is an extremely powerful tool if you see their vision. Thanks for help fighting some of the FUD. 💪
